City asks residents to share thoughts on new concept for Heritage Park at second public meeting

(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie is undertaking a Master Plan process for Heritage Park, a 7.3 acre waterfront park located at 5 Simcoe Street on Barrie's north shore, and the public is invited to share their input on the draft final Master Plan Concept for the park.

Heritage Park is one of the city's premier waterfront destinations and hosts many events. It also features horticultural displays, a water feature area, a natural pond and the Sea Serpent sculpture. This is the first Master Plan since the park's original development in the early 1990s, and presents an opportunity for the public to explore creative ways to update, revitalize and explore innovative ideas to meet the needs of park users and visitors.

Thefirst public meetings, held on May 27 of this year, invited Barrie residents, businesses, organizations and visitors to share their feedback on three master plan concepts for Heritage Park. Thefeedback from the first meetings was used to create the draft final Master Plan Concept.

At the next public meetings, being held on November 25, theDraft Final Master Plan Concept will be presented. The presentation will outline the proposed level of rehabilitation for the park and new amenities, and the public will be invited to ask questions and comment on the concept plan.
