City closing more outdoor recreation areas to promote physical distancing

(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by increasing precautionary measures to combat the spread of the virus and encourage physical distancing. At the advice of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, the City is closing dog off-leash parks, skateboard parks, tennis courts, basketball courts and picnic areas/pavilions until further notice. Signs will be posted soon at all locations.

Parks remain open at this time; however, the public are reminded to follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's recommendations to avoid crowds and maintain a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from those around you. This is a serious situation and we need to all come together to adhere to the direction from public health.
