City hosting info sessions for prospective Municipal Election candidates

(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie is hosting two virtual information sessions for prospective Municipal Election candidates and third-party advertisers to learn more about the nomination and registration process. Anyone interested in running in the 2022 Municipal Election for Mayor, Council member or school board trustee or registering as a third-party advertiser are invited to attend the following information sessions:

Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 6 p.m.  Register in advance by visiting theInformation for Candidates page, viabarrie.ca/Election. The session will cover City of Barrie policies, procedures, and by-law information pertaining to prospective candidates and the third-party advertiser registration process.

Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 6 p.m. Register in advance visiting theInformation for Candidates page viabarrie.ca/Election. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) will be reviewing the Municipal Elections Act and providing information on becoming a candidate or third-party advertiser in a municipal election.

Starting May 2, registrations for third party advertisers will be accepted, and nominations for the following offices:MayorCouncillorMember - Simcoe County District School BoardMember – Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School BoardMember - Conseil scolaire ViamondeMember - Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir
