(Barrie, ON) On Wednesday, April 15, City Council approved a motion aimed at providing assistance to those who have been financially impacted as a result of COVID-19.
Residential water/wastewater account holders who have suffered from financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, can now apply to eliminate the fixed charge for water and wastewater on their next bimonthly bill. To apply, visit Water Billing atwww.barrie.ca/WaterServices and complete the Residential Water and Wastewater Covid-19 Pandemic Relief Request form. Residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as there is limited funding available for this program. Landlords are required to pass the water bill relief on to tenants if water charges are included in their rent.
In addition, the payment due date grace periods have been extended from 35 to 63 days for all residents, and from 30 to 63 days for all businesses for the next two billing periods (effective April 23, 2020). The extended due date will be indicated on all water/wastewater bills.
The City will continually update its website atbarrie.ca/Services as the situation changes.
