(Barrie, ON) City of Barrie residents are invited to do some spring cleaning and help keep reusable items out of the landfill by participating in the first city-wide curbside collection of textiles (clothing, linens and shoes). The textile curbside collection will take place the week of May 31 to June 4, 2021.
Donating your items is easy:
Look up your textile collection day (note that it will not be the same as your regular collection day for garbage, recycling and green bin material).Place your items in a large, clear bag.Put your items out on the curb on your textile collection day no later than 7 a.m., rain or shine.
Visitrecyclingrewards.com/barrie or call 1-866-927-3873 to determine your collection day, to review the full list of acceptable items or if you have questions.
Donations will support the Cornerstone to Recovery, a non-profit, charitable agency that provides community-based recovery programs for individuals and families experiencing and impacted by addiction. This collection links those wishing to part with unwanted reusable goods with those in need of them.
There will be another curbside textile collection in fall 2021. Textile collection bins will also be placed at City facilities in the future to provide more collection options.
