Community invited to park naming ceremony in honour of Will Dwyer
Friday, August 26, 2022
(Barrie, ON) – The public are invited to the Will Dwyer Park naming ceremony taking place on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the former Centennial South Park. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with speeches and a BBQ fundraiser hosted by the Terry Fox Foundation.
William 'Will' Dwyer was a second World War veteran who raised $1.2 million for the Terry Fox Foundation over 41 years. In June 2022, Barrie City Council passed a motion to rename Centennial South Park as Will Dwyer Park.
The Terry Fox Foundation is hosting a BBQ fundraiser in honour of Will Dwyer's legacy and park naming. All are invited to attend free of charge. Donations for the BBQ will go to the Terry Fox Foundation in Will Dwyer's name and his family's quest to fundraise $2 million. Fred Fox, Terry Fox's brother, will be in attendance.
