(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie is advising of an upcoming full road closure for a section of Fairview Rd. as part of theHarvie Rd./Big Bay Point Rd./Highway 400 Crossing construction project.
The closure will affect Fairview Rd. from west of Bayview Ave. to just south of the ONroute service centre. The closure won't affect access to theBarrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus at 110 Fairview Rd. The closure will be in effect from June 1 until approximately November when the crossing project is expected to be complete.
“This $45M project is a major undertaking that has been over four years in the making, from design to construction, and we are now nearing the finish line," says Andrea Miller, General Manager, Infrastructure and Growth Management. “The final step of construction will bring much needed relief to traffic in the south end before the end of the year."
Last week,26 bridge girders were installed to add to the crossing.
This project will reduce existing traffic congestion and support growth in Barrie's south end by connecting Harvie Rd. to Big Bay Point Rd. across Highway 400. Visitbarrie.ca/roadwork for more information.
