(Barrie, ON) – City of Barrie residents are encouraged to share their feedback about the community's needs and interests for St. Vincent Park through apublic consultation process. The Park's playground and amenities will be updated this year as part of Barrie's Playground Revitalization Program. The City aims to revitalize existing traditional play spaces to meet the needs and interests of residents, while offering new, vibrant, and engaging experiences for all.
St. Vincent Park is a neighbourhood and waterfront park located at 65 Blake Street. It's approximately two acres in size and contains mature trees, a newly renovated washroom facility, a large shade shelter, and playground.
The City's vision is to integrate play opportunities within existing parks to:
encourage social, physical, and mental engagement of persons of all ages and abilitiesfoster motor, sensory, creative, and social skillsprovide excitement and challengeconnect visitors to the park with year-round access to nature
Members of the public are invited to share their input on changes to St. Vincent Park in the following ways:
participate in online surveys (thefirst survey to gather playground concept ideas is now open for feedback; a second survey will take place in late February to get input on the playground design concepts)join avirtual Public Information Centre (PIC) meeting on February 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn about what the City has heard from the community and view the playground concept designsshare your ideas or ask questions onBuilding BarrieVisit St. Vincent Park and add your ideas to the on-site chalkboardFeedback for this project must be received by February 27. Once all public input is gathered, a preferred concept and detailed design will come forward in late spring, and then construction of the new playground will take place this summer.
