Ward 7 Neighbourhood Meeting
This Neighbourhood Meeting is your first opportunity to hear about a proposed development from the applicant, understand the City’s planning approval process and timelines and give you the chance to ask questions. This is a preliminary meeting to provide residents with information before the application is reviewed by City staff and considered by City Council. A Statutory Public Meeting will be scheduled at a later date, in accordance with the Planning Act.
Innovative Planning Solutions have proposed an Amendment to the Zoning By-law for lands known municipally as 407, 411, 413, 417 and 419 Mapleview Drive West in the City of Barrie. The site is 0.64 hectares in area and is located along Mapleview Drive West, east of the intersection with Redfern Avenue.
The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment seeks to rezone the subject lands from ‘Residential Single Detached First Density’ (R1) to ‘Residential Multiple Dwelling Second Density’ (R2)(SP-XXX) with site-specific provisions. The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment would facilitate the development of four 3-storey back-to-back townhomes, 164 underground and 3 above ground visitor parking spaces with a total of 88 units.
With the current restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19, this neighbourhood meeting will be held in a virtual forum with electronic participation via ZOOM. To participate in the virtual neighbourhood meeting, you will need access to a computer with internet service or a telephone.

  • A presentation from the applicant of the development concept;
  • City review process and timing;
  • An opportunity to meet the applicant, City staff and Ward Councillor;
  • Ask questions, provide your thoughts, comments and concerns regarding the proposed development.
  • City staff recommendations on the application or a detailed analysis on the proposal (this will occur later in the review process);
  • A debate on the merits of the proposal between City staff and the applicant.
