This Neighbourhood Meeting is your first opportunity to hear about a proposed development from the applicant, understand the City’s planning approval process and timelines and give you the chance to ask questions. This is a preliminary meeting to provide residents with information before the application is reviewed by City staff and considered by City Council. A Statutory Public Meeting will be scheduled at a later date, in accordance with the Planning Act.
MHBC Planning Limited, on behalf of Plaza Retail REIT have proposed an Amendment to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law for lands known municipally as 315 and 323 Mapleview Drive West in the City of Barrie.
The site is approximately 2.45 hectares (6.06 acres) in size and fronts onto Mapleview Drive West, east of Essa Road and west of Hollyholme Farm Road.
The proposed Official Plan Amendment seeks to amend Schedule C of the Official Plan to create a Defined Policy Area on the subject property and allow for the proposed commercial uses to be permitted. The existing General Industrial designation would be retained. The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment seeks maintain the existing Light Industrial (LI) zoning, while amending the existing Special Provision (SP-367) to permit additional commercial uses, specifically including “retail store”, “personal service store”, “food store”, “supermarket” and “standalone restaurant” on the subject lands.
The Neighbourhood Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 starting at 7:00 p.m., ending no later than 9:00 p.m. With the current restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19, this neighbourhood meeting will be held in a virtual forum with electronic participation via ZOOM.
