With the implementation of Barrie’s new Official Plan, it's time to update the City’s Urban Design Guidelines (UDG).
Established in 2012, these guidelines set design principles for elements such as boulevards and crosswalks, parks and open spaces, public art, signs and more within Barrie's defined types of intensification areas (e.g. Mixed-Use Main Streets and Established Neighbourhood Streets). These guidelines need to be updated to align with the new Official Plan and complement the new Zoning By-law (in progress).
