Please email customercare.barrie@emterra.ca or call 1‑833‑253‑8207 to report any issues with organics, garbage, or yard waste collection. The City has access to Emterra’s customer service records and trucks are equipped with technology that can be reviewed to assist with investigating concerns. This helps the City manage the contract and understand where there may be challenges or opportunities for improvement.

    The future of waste management includes a circular economy. This means we need to rethink the traditional three Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and consider the value of materials and products before they become waste. Let's rethink waste!

    The winter can be challenging for curbside collection. Please note some considerations during winter months.

    Curbside Collection Carts

    Organics Collection

    Organics carts are collected curbside every week. Learn about the benefits of the organics program and how to get started.

    Recycling Collection

    Circular Materials is responsible for collecting and managing residential recycling in Barrie. The City is responsible for recycling collection services to businesses and institutions that have registered.

    Garbage Collection

    Most municipally serviced households receive garbage cart collection every other week, with different areas serviced on different days.

    Yard Waste Collection

    Yard waste is collected every other week (alternating with garbage collection week) from April through November.

    Waste Collection Calendar

    Calendars are delivered by mail each year and are available for pickup at select facilities.
