This water/wastewater financial assistance support program was approved by City Council in May 2021.
This program provides financial assistance to low-income households in Barrie, to help offset water/wastewater bill costs. Successful applicants will be credited a portion of their water/wastewater bill back to them.
The credit provided will not exceed 40% of the total water/wastewater bill to a maximum of $60 per billing cycle. If approved, applicants will receive the credit for the next six bills (bills are issued every two months). Applications must be completed annually.

Note: An applicant can be in arrears, but the rebate is not retroactive. A credit in the current year will be applied to the arrears balance owing.
The following criteria must be met to be eligible for water/wastewater billing relief:
- The applicant is a permanent, full-time resident of Barrie with a current City of Barrie residential water/wastewater billing account (the account must be in the applicant's name).
- The application pertains to a principal residence the applicant either owns or rents. A principal residence is defined as the main location where the applicant lives.
- The applicant's total household income must fall into one of the following limits, before tax:

|Each additional person||+$7,172|
