Overnight Parking Restrictions Start December 1

From December 1st through March 31st, overnight on-street parking is not permitted 3–6am within the Downtown BIA, and 12:01–7am on other City-owned streets, for winter road maintenance operations. Overnight parking is also not permitted in any hybrid parking lots or waterfront parking areas (lots and on-street) from midnight to 5am.

Municipal parking rates in Barrie are split by downtown areas, waterfront areas, and hybrid areas. Electric vehicle charging stations are located in select municipal lots across Barrie. The Parking Strategy outlines how parking will evolve.

Downtown Parking

Support local downtown businesses this holiday season and take advantage of FREE 2-hour on-street parking downtown throughout December! 

The following rates are enforced 9am–5pm, Monday–Friday. Downtown parking is free on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. There is a 25¢ minimum cash payment and a 1-hour minimum credit card payment. Payment is also accepted via the HotSpot parking app.

  • On-street: $1.50 per hour
    Limited to 2 hours. On-street downtown parking is not permitted from 3am–6am December through March for winter maintenance
  • Off-street: ​$1.25 per hour, $7 daily max
    Exception: Collier Street Parkade at $1.50 per hour (no daily maximum)

Hy​brid Parking Lots

The Spirit Catcher, Lakeshore Drive, and North Marina parking lots are considered "hybrid" ​parking lots as they are located near both the downtown and designated ​waterfront parking areas. Downtown parking permits and waterfront parking permits are not accepted​ in these lots.​​

Parking rates in hybrid parking lots are consistent with waterfront parking rates: $10/hour and $50/daily​​.  This is enforced 24/7/365, however overnight parking is not permitted in hybrid parking lots from December 1 through March 31 (midnight to 5am).​ 

Waterfront Parking

A digital waterfront parking permit or hangtag pass is required to park for free at specific waterfront areas. The HotSpot Parking App offers many benefits to enhance the parking experience.

Drivers can park without a pass/permit for $10/hour with a daily max of $50 in specific waterfront parking areas. This is enforced 24/7/365, however overnight parking is not permitted in all waterfront parking areas (lots and on-street) from December 1 through March 31 (midnight to 5am).​

Allandale Residential Parking Permit 

The Allandale Residential Parking Permit program takes place on Allandale streets where on-street parking is not permitted 7am–9am on weekdays. You must live within this area to obtain a permit.
