The City is undertaking the construction of a new Booster Pumping Station (BPS) and rehabilitation of the reservoir, located at 164 Anne Street North. The Anne St. BPS will include the rebuild of the BPS and provide redundancy in the drinking water supply system. The Anne Street BPS is scheduled for construction in the Spring of 2023.
On March 28, 2022, Barrie City Council approved the Community Energy & Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan. To meet the objective to reduce overall GHG emission 45% below 2018 levels by 2030 and to become net-zero by 2050, the installation of a solar panels on the reservoir and the roof of the Anne Street BPS is being considered.

Registration details were posted on this webpage and social media; listed in the events calendar on barrie.ca and within the City's app. A letter was sent to properties potentially impacted by or adjacent to the Anne St. BPS. Comments were collected until July 29, 2022

A Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment (EA) was completed in July 2019 for the Anne St. BPS. The EA determined the north-east side of the existing reservoir to be the preferred location of the new BPS to maintain the valued community space.
