There’s no age limit on staying active in Barrie. The Allandale 55+ Centre and Parkview Centre for 55+ offer recreation, education and fitness opportunities along with events and workshops for individuals 55 years of age and better.

Active Living Volunteers
Our volunteers are friendly, dynamic, and outgoing people who maintain the daily operation of our centres. Volunteer and make a difference in your community! Contact the Allandale Centre or Parkview Centre to discover rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Outreach Day Program
The City of Barrie offers an adult day program for people who are experiencing difficulty taking advantage of our regular activities. This program is open to all residents of the City of Barrie. The Outreach Program promotes wellness by providing gentle exercises, a hot nutritious lunch and a unique afternoon activity. Fitness for 55+
Fit Fitness into your life with our fitness programs. Starting a new fitness program can be a difficult task, especially if you are a true beginner or have not exercised in decades. Remember, you are making a positive decision that can improve every aspect of your life! The City of Barrie 55+ centres have developed many programs to help you take your first steps to wellness. You don't have to be an athlete or a fitness guru to take part. Exercise will help you:
- Sleep Better
- Lose weight or maintain your weight
- Improve your immune system and your ability to fight infections
- Lower your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes
- Increase your feeling of well being
- Help prevent falls
In conjunction with Revenue Canada, the City's 55+ Centres offer the Community Income Tax Program. Trained volunteers assist people with low incomes or those who have difficulty completing their tax returns. You do not need to be a senior to take advantage of this program. There is no charge for these clinics, however donations are accepted; all donations support the City's Outreach Program at Parkview Centre.
Income tax clinics operate from the end of February to the end of April each year. Only basic returns are accepted and appointments are necessary. To book your appointment at the respective Centre, please call Allandale 55+ Centre at 728-6332, or Parkview 55+ Centre at 737-0755.

The 55+ Centres are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., with some scheduled programs and events on weekends and evenings. Summer hours may vary based on programs.
|What does my membership in the 55+ Centres offer me?
Everyone who participates in a membership program must be a registered member. Your membership entitles you to participate in all volunteer led programs and activities offered by both the Allandale
