Place waste curbside by 7am

Please remember to sort your waste for collection and have it curbside by 7am on your collection day/week. If you believe your collection of organics, garbage or yard waste was missed, please contact Emterra at customercare.barrie@emterra.ca or 1-833-253-8207. If you believe your recycling collection was missed, please contact customercareont@emterra.ca or 1-888-597-1541.

    There are many changes to curbside waste collection between 2024 and 2026. Effective May 1, 2024, collection looks different.

    Recycling Collection

    Circular Materials is responsible for collecting and managing residential recycling in Barrie. The City is responsible for recycling collection services to businesses and institutions that have registered.

    Garbage Collection

    Most municipally serviced households receive two-bag or two-can garbage pickup every other week, with different areas serviced on different days.

    Yard Waste Collection

    There is no specific day for yard waste collection. Place yard waste curbside Monday by 7am on your yard waste collection week (opposite garbage week).

    Waste Collection Calendar

    Calendars are delivered by mail each year and are available for pickup at select facilities.
