Barrie, ON – The City of Barrie is continuing to invest in road infrastructure through its annual Pavement Management Program, with approximately 18.4 kilometres of roadway being resurfaced in 2026.
Road resurfacing involves repairing surface defects such as cracking, rutting, and deterioration in the upper layers of the roadway. By addressing these issues proactively, the City helps extend the life of existing roads, improve driving conditions, and reduce the need for more extensive and costly rehabilitation or reconstruction in the future.
Several resurfacing projects are already complete or nearing completion, including work on Bayfield Street, Clapperton Street, Collier Street, and Ross Street in the downtown area, as well as Bayview Drive between Mapleview Drive and Lockhart Road. Additional resurfacing work will continue throughout the construction season in neighbourhoods across the city.
