• Adaptive Reuse Award | 97 Ferndale Drive North, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board

  This award recognizes the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board for their efforts in conserving a historic building in the city of Barrie. The historic schoolhouse located at 97 Ferndale Drive North has been conserved and repurposed, retaining the architectural charm, historic, and cultural relevance, of a rural community school.

• Residential Award | 52 Dundonald Street, Nick Lougheed & Marlena Gomes

• Residential Award | 105 Sunnidale Road, Jeff & Leanne Reid

• Individual Award | Jaime Grant, Barrie Farmers’ Market

  This award recognizes Jaime Grant’s commitment and dedication to the history of the Barrie Farmers’ Market. She has increased both the awareness of the Market’s importance to the community, and the legacy it has in the city of Barrie.

• Building Nomination Requirements

  Nominations for buildings in Barrie with at least two of the following attributes are considered:

  • Reflect a historic architectural style (e.g. Georgian, Victorian, Queen Anne, etc.);
  • The property and buildings are well maintained;
  • Are sensitive to the heritage features of the property, especially if the property has been restored, rehabilitated or adaptively re-used;
  • Enhances the streetscape; or,
  • Assists in revitalizing the community through heritage conservation.
• Community, Group, or Individual Requirements

  Nominations for a community, a group or an individual with the following attributes are considered:  

  • Demonstrate a commitment to heritage preservation;
  • Built awareness and understanding of local history and heritage; and,
  • Help revitalize the community through building local heritage awareness.
