Barrie Heritage Awards

The annual Barrie Heritage Awards celebrate our heritage community, and are awarded to property owners, individuals and groups who've made strides in fostering local identity through heritage preservation and awareness in Barrie. Award recipients receive public recognition from the Heritage Barrie Committee and City Council and are presented an award during a City Council meeting. 

2025 Heritage Awards

Nominations for the 2025 Barrie Heritage Awards were accepted until November 10, 2025. Thank you to all who submitted nominations. The Heritage Barrie Committee will review all nominations, and recipients will be contacted directly. Awards will be presented in early 2026.

Members of the public were encouraged to nominate a property, person, or organization in one of the following categories:

  • Residential Properties: Private homes or residences of historical significance 
  • Adaptive Reuse and/or Commercial Properties: Businesses or commercial spaces that 
    preserve original features while introducing new elements 
  • Institutional Properties: Churches, schools, or public facilities that reflect heritage values 
  • Community, Group, or Individual: Artisans, educators, volunteers, or professionals who champion heritage conservation
