Skate/equipment rentals or sharpening are not available at any facility.

The maximum number of participants for Adult/Senior Hockey is 20 players + 4 goalies/session. Please arrive no more than 30 minutes before the start time of the program. Participants must:

• pre-register play.barrie.ca.  
• wear FULL HOCKEY GEAR and hockey helmet (cage recommended) and provide their own stick. 
• abide by our Fair Play Policy.
• keep games non-contact.

The City offers fitness drop-in classes suitable for all levels of experience.  Find your favourite or try them all. There's a variety to choose from including:

• Cardio, Muscle and Combination Classes
• Yoga, Pilates and Stretching
• Bootcamps, Athletic Workout
• Cycling, exercise ball, barbell classes
• Aqua Fit for both swimmers and non-swimmers (shallow & deep water)

The City of Barrie offers a variety of different gymnasium drop-ins at both the East Bayfield Community Centre and the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre.

Programs include Preschool Drop-in (ages 0–5yrs), Family Drop-in, After School Drop-in, Teen’s Only Drop in, Open Gym and Adult Drop ins (must be 16yrs and older). Please refer to the current East Bayfield and Peggy Hill Team community centre's drop-in schedules for times and days.

Please note:

• Children under the age of 10 years must be supervised by a parent or guardian that is 15yrs of age or older in all of the drop-ins.
• Equipment that is permitted during the drop-ins: basketball, volleyball, badminton and pickleball.
• Floor hockey is not permitted.

Preschool drop-ins are offered at Peggy Hill Team Community Centre and East Bayfield Community Centre. View the drop-in schedules for dates and times.

Unless otherwise noted, all preschool drop-ins are parent participation programs. Each space is equipped with toddler and infant changing stations for your convenience.

Our play space is designed to spark creativity and encourage exploration! Children can:

• Dress up & imagine in our costume corner
• Zoom around with cars and trucks
• Solve puzzles that challenge growing minds
• Cook up fun in the play kitchen
• Build and create with blocks and manipulatives
• Enjoy cozy reading nooks and sensory-friendly activities

Looking for a calmer environment? Our sensory-aware preschool drop-in offers quieter times, lower ratios, and extra support—perfect for families who prefer a gentler setting or aren’t quite ready for a busy atmosphere.

Skate/equipment rentals or sharpening are not available at any facility.

For all drop-in public skating programs no pre-registration is required, and spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Sign-in begins 15 minutes before ice time. Refer to drop-in schedules for dates and times.

Skating Drop-in Rules

• Guests 9 years of age and under must be accompanied by a guardian who is at least 12 years old. Guardians must also sign in for the drop-in. Drop-in fees apply for guardians participating in the skate, but not if watching from the bleachers.
• Only persons with skates shall be permitted on the ice.
• Skate in the same direction as other skaters.
• It is recommended that all skaters wear CSA approved helmets.
• Skate Aids are available in limited quantities at some locations. Please note anyone using a skate aid must wear a helmet with a full face mask. Skate aids need to be used in designated areas if directed by skate staff.                        
• The following is not permitted on the ice:
  • Carrying children in arms 
  • Baby carriers and strollers                                         
  • Food and drink                                               
  • Sport sticks/pucks/toboggans and other items which might interfere with the safety of any skater
  • Figure skating maneuvers such as jumps and spins                                    
  • Rough play such as tag, racing and games   
  • On the ice without wearing skates

Stick & Puck is a supervised informal session with no goalies and zero contact. The ice will be allocated for skill development only. Space is limited to 40 participants. Check-in begins 30 minutes before ice time. Refer to drop-in schedules for dates and times.

Stick & Puck Drop-in Rules

• Participants in all-ages Stick & Puck who are 9 years of age and under must be accompanied by a guardian who is at least 12 years old. Drop-in fees apply for guardians participating in the skate, but not if watching from the bleachers.
• Participants must wear a hockey helmet (cage recommended) and gloves
• Participants must ensure pucks always stay on the ice – slap shots are NOT permitted
• Participants must keep games non-contact

• Goalies are not permitted to scrimmage with other participants in full equipment, however staff will designate a space on ice for goalies to practice. They must stay within the designated area and picks need to stay on the ice. Full sized nets will not be provided.

​Open Swims: Open swims are available for unstructured play. Each pool offers unique features and opportunities to play with toys. 

Aquafit: With less stress on the body's​ joints, aquafit is an ideal way to stay fit. We offer a variety of classes including boot camp and more.

Fitness Swims: Fitness swim is continuous lap swimming. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 metres and be comfortable in deep water. Please observe the pace of swimmers before choosing the lane that best suits your pace. Follow direction from the lifeguards.

Drop-in programs for youth ages 11–17 years are offered at Peggy Hill Team Community Centre and at Lampman Lane Community Centre. 

Our Youth Centre at the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre is a space where teens can relax, connect, and have fun. It offers a welcoming environment with games, activities, and plenty of room to hang out with friends.
