Family Fright Fest is Barrie’s annual Halloween celebration, drawing thousands for a free evening of fun! In its sixth year, the event will transform Lampman Lane Park and Community Centre into a Halloween wonderland with a haunted house, busker performances, inflatables, crafts and the ever-popular costume contest. Families can also explore the vendor market, enjoy tasty treats and listen to a haunted story around the fire.
This is a family-friendly event and suitable for all ages. While the event takes place 3–9pm, those with sensitivities and younger attendees are encouraged to come early as the event will be scarier as the evening progresses. Parents/guardians are encouraged to use their discretion when deciding whether to participate in Family Fright Fest.
- 3-4pm: Sensory-friendly hour hosted by the City’s Inclusion Services team, offering a quieter, less scary experience with no animated features, no scary costumes, and lights on throughout.
- 4–5pm: Friendly frights hour for tiny trick or treaters featuring all the fun sounds, lights, and sensory effects. Costumed performer on site.
- 5–9pm: Full Fright Fest experience progressively scarier as the evening unfolds with increased sensory elements including louder music and sound effects, dimmed lighting in the gym, flashing lights, fog effects, and performers in scarier costumes.
