The Art of Belonging

Join us for a free, interactive community celebration where everyone is invited to connect, get creative and leave their mark! Participants of all ages, backgrounds and artistic abilities will work together to create a vibrant 5’ x 5’ community paint-by-numbers mosaic mural celebrating belonging, connection and what it means to be part of a community.

The mural will be divided into 225 individual 4” x 4” sections, allowing each participant to contribute a unique piece to the larger artwork. Visitors will receive a section of the mural along with simple painting instructions and all necessary art supplies. No previous art experience is required - just a willingness to participate and have fun! As the individual pieces are completed, they will come together to reveal one collective image, demonstrating how many unique contributions can create something meaningful and beautiful when brought together.

In addition to the collaborative mural, guests can enjoy food and refreshments, music, opportunities to take photos and a welcoming space to meet community members, neighbours, and families. Visitors will also have an opportunity to learn more about Barrie Housing and the Beyond Homes Foundation, including the work being done to support residents and strengthen our community beyond housing.

This free, accessible and family-friendly event is designed to bring people together through art, creativity and shared experiences. The completed mural will be permanently displayed as a lasting celebration of everyone who contributed and a reminder that every person has a place in building a strong, inclusive and connected community.
