Mandate 

To help facilitate the development of Barrie, in the Communities in Bloom National Municipal Beautification contest, with a focus on flowers, landscaping, gardens, beautification and environmental awareness.

Objectives

To assist the Roads, Parks and Fleet Department as they are evaluated on the overall contributions of City Council, industry, businesses and the private sector including volunteer efforts in regard to the eight criteria:

  • Tidiness
  • Environmental Action
  • Heritage Conservation
  • Urban Forestry
  • Landscape
  • Turf and Groundcovers
  • Floral Displays
  • Community Involvement

The Communities in Bloom Committee fosters community involvement throughout all aspects of the program.

Meetings

The committee meets monthly in person. Agendas are available on the City’s Legislative Portal. Please contact the Clerks Office at CityClerks@barrie.ca with any questions regarding agendas. Effective February 2023, advisory committee meetings are no longer streamed via the City's YouTube channel.
