Barrie’s 2025 Heritage Award winners honoured at City Council

(BarrieON) – The City of Barrie’s 2025 Heritage Awards were presented at last evening’s City Council meeting. These awards are presented annually by the City’s Heritage Committee to buildings, individuals, and groups who have contributed to preserving Barrie’s community heritage and who share awareness of historical conservation.

The 2025 Heritage Barrie award winners are:

Residential Properties: Private homes or residences of historical significance 

  • 62 Shirley Ave., Darlene Botman (Owner)

Community, Group, or Individual: Artisans, educators, volunteers, or professionals who champion heritage conservation

  • Barrie Curling Club, Renee Dadswell (Manager)
  • RoxanneShank, President of the Barrie South Simcoe Métis Council

Adaptive Reuse and/or Commercial Properties: Businesses or commercial spaces that 
preserve original features while introducing new elements 

  • 80 Dunlop St. E., Homestead Artisan Bakery + Café, Lise Ravalli and Cait Patrick (Owners)

As part of the 2025 Heritage Awards process, members of the public were encouraged to nominate a property, person, or organization, and the Heritage Barrie Committee reviewed all nominations.
