(Barrie, ON) – The City of Barrie is once again taking part in Culture Days, a national celebration of arts and culture running from September 18 to October 4. The annual festival invites residents and visitors to experience free, interactive programming that highlights local creativity across the community.
Culture Days is a Canada-wide festival that brings people together through thousands of interactive arts and culture experiences. In Barrie, the City supports local artists, organizations and community groups as they showcase the city’s vibrant creative talent through free events and activities.
This year’s programming features concerts, dance workshops, Métis culture, mural painting, sculpture making, theatre and other interactive artistic experiences. All events are free and open to all ages, unless otherwise noted.
Featured Culture Days events include:
- September 18 – Culture Days flag raising with a free concert by Baytowne Big Band
- September 20 – Wild Canada in 3D: A Children's Wildlife Sculpture Workshop
- September 23 – Fall Culture Night Out
- September 24 – Don’t Touch the Art live and immersive theatre experience
- September 29 – Healing in Colour: A Community Art Workshop on Black Health
- October 2 – The Art of Belonging mural painting
- October 3 – An A Cappella Experience
Additional Culture Days events will be hosted by the Barrie Public Library, Barrie Farmers’ Market, Georgian College and the MacLaren Art Centre.
