Barrie’s Heritage Award winners announced

(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie’s 2024 Heritage Awards were presented at last evening’s City Council Meeting. These awards are presented annually by the City’s Heritage Committee to buildings, individuals, and groups who have contributed to preserving Barrie’s community heritage and who share awareness of historical conservation.

The 2024 Heritage Barrie award winners are:

Residential Category

Jeff & Leanne Reid – 105 Sunnidale Road 
Nick Lougheed & Marlena Gomes – 52 Dundonald Street
Bill & Deb Hankin – 20 St. Vincent Street 

Individual Category

Jaime Grant 

Commercial or Adaptive Reuse Category

Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board – 97 Ferndale Drive North schoolhouse

If Barrie residents are interested in having their heritage property formally recognized, they can visit the City’s Heritage Register webpage at barrie.ca/heritage for information on how to apply. The Municipal Heritage Register​ is a list of properties that includes Designated Buildings and Buildings of Heritage Interest. It recognizes properties of cultural heritage value, fosters civic identify and pride, promotes education of a community’s cultural heritage, and provides information about cultural heritage.
