Battery recycling bags available for pickup at select facilities ahead of Battery Collection Week

(BarrieON) – Ahead of Battery Collection Week—taking place November 3 to 7—battery recycling bags are now available for pickup at select City facilities. Due to current uncertainty in the postal service, battery bags will not be mailed this year.

Batteries are accepted for curbside collection during the first full week of November each year. During Battery Collection Week, residents can place battery recycling bags on top of either cart on their regular curbside collection day. Battery recycling bags should NOT be placed inside carts. Battery recycling bags must be clearly visible, as they will be removed by the driver and placed in a separate compartment within the truck. Residents can also use clear, sealable bags or unused battery recycling bags previously provided by the City.

Battery recycling bags are available for pickup until November 7 at the following City facilities:

  • Peggy Hill Team Community Centre, 171 Mapleton Avenue
  • Allandale Recreation Centre, 190 Bayview Drive
  • East Bayfield Community Centre, 80 Livingstone Street East
  • Barrie Landfill Site, 272 Ferndale Drive North
    • Battery bags are available at the Recycling Depot (located at the bottom of the hill), Environmental Administration building, and the Waste and Recycling Depot (located at the top of the hill)
  • City Hall (Service Barrie), 70 Collier Street, first floor
  • Barrie Public Library, Downtown Branch, 60 Worsley Steet
  • Barrie Public Library, Holly Branch, 555 Essa Road, Unit 17
  • Barrie Public Library, Painswick Branch, 48 Dean Avenue
