Residents must place debris at the curb by June 1
(Barrie, ON) – In response to the widespread tree damage caused by the late March ice storm, the City of Barrie has been working to clear and remove storm debris from across the city for the last several weeks. At times, up to 86 cleanup crews were deployed to chip and collect fallen limbs and branches placed at the curb.
To ensure all remaining debris is collected, the City will conduct one final curbside collection pass from June 2 to 7, 2025. Residents are asked to have all storm-related tree debris placed at the curb no later than June 1 to guarantee pickup.
“This storm had a major impact on our urban forest and our community,” said Dave Friary, Director of Operations, City of Barrie. “We’re grateful for the patience and cooperation of residents as crews have worked tirelessly over the past several weeks to address the damage. This final collection effort will help wrap up the city-wide cleanup of large piles of private brush curbside.”
Residents are reminded that:
- Only storm-related tree debris will be collected.
- Debris should be neatly piled at the curb and not obstruct sidewalks, fire hydrants, or roads.
- Regular yard waste collection continues as scheduled for other materials.
