City of Barrie opening warming centre at Allandale Recreation Centre for those in need

The City of Barrie is opening a warming centre at the Allandale Recreation Centre, effective immediately, to support residents in need during the current extreme weather conditions. This facility has heat and hydro and will provide a safe, warm space for individuals who are experiencing cold temperatures or need shelter. The Allandale Recreation Centre is located at 190 Bayview Drive in Barrie.

For your safety, please stay out of City parks and refrain from attempting cleanup on your property at this time. Ice accumulation on large trees is making nearby areas very dangerous due to falling branches. Information about the City's ongoing cleanup efforts will be communicated as conditions are assessed and details are finalized.

City services update:

  • Many City facilities remain closed until further notice.
  • Barrie Transit is operating but may experience delays. For up-to-date Barrie Transit service notices please visit myridebarrie.ca/news
