(Barrie, ON) – The City of Barrie is once again expanding Canada Day celebrations by hosting Canada Day On The Move. The event will be held in two neighbourhood parks, in addition to festivities at Centennial Park and fireworks on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
"Canada Day is a special occasion for us in Barrie to come together and celebrate the values that make our city and country strong, such as hard work, freedom, and community," said Mayor Alex Nuttall. "We invite families across the city to take part in our free, family-focused events at local parks. Canada Day On The Move is a great way to honour our heritage, enjoy the outdoors, and create lasting memories. The day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display that brings us all together as proud Canadians.”
Canada Day On The Move features Canada Day activities at two local parks, Lampman Lane Park and Painswick Park. These three-hour pop-ups will have free, family-friendly activities including a reptile show from Scales Nature Park, face painting, busker performances, interactive games, inflatables and more. There will also be programming at Centennial Park beginning at 12 p.m. and it will include a variety of food trucks, entertainment, and spectacular performance by the Ultimutts Animal Actors Show. There will be a Moonwalk Entertainment Family Zone with paid activities including inflatables, games, face painting, fun food and more.
To end the evening, take in a fireworks show at approximately 10 p.m. The show will be visible from multiple vantage points along Barrie’s waterfront. Heritage Park will be closed to the public for safety during the show. In case of inclement weather, fireworks will be held on Wednesday, July 2.
For festivities downtown, Open Air Dunlop (presented by the Downtown Barrie BIA) will take place in Meridian Place, and Dunlop Street will be closed to vehicles (pedestrians only) from Maple Avenue to Mulcaster Street. The Open Air Dunlop event will feature activities, vendors and live entertainment to celebrate Canada Day.
