City Hall fountain pond closing early for the season due to unsanitary conditions

(BarrieON) – The City of Barrie is closing the fountain pond at City Hall for the remainder of the season due to acts of vandalism and the presence of human waste which has resulted in the water becoming contaminated.

The closure is necessary to ensure public safety and to allow staff to properly clean and restore the pond. The pond will reopen in the winter for skating once the temperatures are cold enough.

The City of Barrie is currently under a State of Emergency to address encampments across Barrie as the number and size continue to grow and cause significant risk and harm.
