(Barrie, ON) – Join the City of Barrie’s New Year’s Eve Celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. on December 31 at Meridian Place in the heart of downtown Barrie. This event features a concert with Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell, along with an evening packed with free family fun.
In addition to the headliner Kim Mitchell, the festivities include:

- Inflatables & Games
- Art Activities
- Face Painting
- Bonfire Warming Zone
- Food Trucks ($)
- Fireworks Finale at 9 p.m. (from Heritage Park)
Kim Mitchell has won three JUNO Awards and achieved gold and multi-platinum status over his career, from his time as lead of Canadian rock band Max Webster in the 70s to a long and successful solo career. Mitchell was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2021.
Barrie Transit bus service will be free on New Year’s Eve starting at 5 p.m. with hourly service extended to 3 a.m. Extended schedules are available at MyRideBarrie.ca.
Downtown parking is FREE after 5 p.m. and available within walking distance of Meridian Place, including the Collier Street Parkade.
To accommodate the Barrie NYE Celebration, Simcoe Street (Bayfield Street to the Dunlop/Mulcaster Street intersection) will be closed 2-11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31. Details will be posted at barrie.ca/RoadClosures.
