Total fire ban in effect in the City of Barrie

(BarrieON) – A total fire ban is in effect in the City of Barrie after the fire danger rating was elevated to extreme due to ongoing dry conditions. The fire ban is effective immediately to protect the city from accidental fires.

During this ban, all outdoor burning is prohibited within the City of Barrie. This includes all recreational fires, including those used for cooking purposes outdoors. Rated appliances, such as propane and natural gas barbecues, are still permitted at this time. However, they must be placed on a hard surface, deck, or non-flammable area, maintaining a significant distance from any combustible materials.
