Take Notice of a Decision of the Council of The Corporation of the City of Barrie to adopt By-law Number 2026-041 on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 pursuant to the provisions of Section 17(23) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, and pursuant of O. Reg. 198/96(3).
The purpose of this Official Plan Amendment is to amend the Official Plan 2051 (May 2024) to incorporate lands of the Township of Oro-Medonte brought into the City as a result of the Barrie Oro-Medonte-Springwater Boundary Adjustment Act, 2025. Adjacent lands within the City’s Built up Area including 418, 428, 436, 444 and 445 Blake Street, 247 and 256 Steel Street and 138 Penetanguishene Road are also proposed for amendment to their designation. The amendments as proposed support the City’s long term needs for Employment and Community Areas.
The subject lands affected by this amendment, are the lands as defined through Bill 76, being formerly part of the Township of Oro-Medonte and 8 properties within the City’s Built-up Area as reflected in Official Plan 2051 (May 2024).
IF YOU WISH TO APPEAL the decision of the City of Barrie to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) in respect to the By-law, you may do so within twenty (20) days of the issuance of this notice by filing a Notice of Appeal via the OLT e-file at https://olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service/ by selecting [City of Barrie] as the Approval Authority or by mail to the City Clerk – City of Barrie, no later than 4:30 p.m. on or before Wednesday, May 20, 2026 . The filing of an appeal after 4:30 p.m., in person or electronically, will be deemed to have been received the next business day.
