Project ScopeThe City of Barrie Infrastructure Department is completing the detail design for the reconstruction of Gunn Street from Peel Street to St. Vincent Street. Most of the infrastructure along Gunn Street was constructed in the early to mid-1950's and is at or approaching the end of its maximum potential life. It has experienced age-related deterioration or physical failure (watermain breaks, etc.), and needs replacement. This work will address the aging infrastructure as well as the deteriorating pavement condition. Project HighlightsReplacement of the sanitary sewer and sanitary service laterals up to property lineReplacement of the watermain, water services and curb stop to the property lineInstallation of a storm sewer system Reconstruction of the roadway including base & surface course asphalt, granular road base and curb and gutterConcrete sidewalk on the north side only Boulevard regrading and restorationTraffic Management Plan has been developed to minimize traffic disruptions
Project Schedule
Pending budget approval, utility relocations and permitting, the construction schedule is as follows:Start: Phase 1 – Gunn Street from Davidson Street to Peel Street, Spring 2022 to Fall 2022 Start: Phase 2 – Gunn Street from Davidson Street to St. Vincent Street, Spring 2023 to Fall 2023Finish: December 2023, with some possible restoration in Spring 2024Purpose of Notice (Public Information Centre)
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, we will not be having a typical in person Public Information Centre, however we want to ensure your questions are answered. We will be posting slides on the City website that will provide you with any information about the project.
