The Study

The 2019 provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe has identified that the City of Barrie (the “City”) will grow to 298,000 people and 150,000 jobs by 2051. The City is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to determine multi-modal infrastructure requirements to support this growth.

This study will:

  • Review the existing TMP and current network conditions to identify existing capacity constraints;
  • Ensure the transportation network and services meet the current and future community needs by providing long-term and integrated transportation planning strategies to the 2051 planning horizon; and
  • Recommend future transportation projects to support planned growth to 2051.

We Want to Hear From You

The City would like to invite you to attend the upcoming introductory Public Information Centre to learn more about the TMP and to provide your input. At this meeting, the Project Team will:

  • Provide an overview of the TMP study process and project tasks to date;
  • Seek input on challenges and opportunities regarding the existing transportation network, including active transportation, transit, and roads;
  • Seek feedback on the preliminary Vision and Guiding Principles; and
  • Provide an outline of next steps and opportunities for engagement.

This is a drop-in style event with project team members available to answer questions, receive feedback, and discuss your thoughts on the future of transportation.
