TAKE NOTICE that the Affordability Committee of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Barrie will hold a public meeting for a City-initiated amendment to the Official Plan 2051 (May 2024) on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 6:00PM
THE PURPOSE of the Official Plan Amendment application is to make the City’s Official Plan consistent with the Provincial Planning Statement, 2024 (PPS 2024), which came into effect on October 20, 2024. The Official Plan is the policy document that directs the future use of land, development, infrastructure and community building within the City, and it is required to be consistent with provincial planning legislation. PPS 2024 replaces the Provincial Policy Statement, 2020 (PPS 2020) and A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (Growth Plan).
The public meeting will be held in a virtual forum with electronic participation and in-person at City Hall. The meeting will be livestreamed on the City’s YouTube Channel http://youtube.com/citybarrie.
If you wish to provide oral comments (virtually or in-person) at the public meeting, please register in advance by emailing: cityclerks@barrie.ca or calling 705-739-4220, Ext. 5500 during regular office hours prior to Wednesday, September 10, 2025, by 12:00 p.m. Once you register, you will be provided information from the Legislative Services Branch on how to make your submission. If you would like to participate virtually, you will need access to a computer with internet service or a telephone.
Any person may attend the meeting and make representation or present submission respecting this matter.
