Notice of Study Commencement | 2051 Transportation Master Plan

Excerpt

The 2019 provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe has identified that the City of Barrie will grow to 298,000 people and 150,000 jobs by 2051. The City of Barrie (the “City”) is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to determine multi-modal infrastructure requirements to support this growth. The study area encompasses the entire City boundary, shown on the map.

The TMP will have a broad scope and level of assessment. The analysis will be on a systems scale to identify infrastructure needs and establish broader alternatives and solutions. The TMP will form the basis for future, more detailed investigations for projects generated that are subject to the Environmental Assessment Act.

The City would like to invite residents, business, and property owners to stay engaged and get involved. We encourage all those interested to visit the project website at buildingbarrie.ca, and:

  • Sign-up to the project mailing list;
  • Stay up to date on project news;
  • Provide comments throughout the duration of the study;
  • Use the online engagement tools (project surveys, mapping and Q & A tools); and
  • Obtain information for future public engagement opportunities and participate in future Public Information Centre meetings.
