GO ROVERS DAY!

Wednesday, April 24, 2024 | All day

Mayor Alex Nuttall has proclaimed April 24, 2024 as GO ROVERS DAY! On April 24, the Simcoe County Rovers FC will be the first Barrie team to play a top tier professional sports team for championship implications.

The Rovers men’s club won their league championship in just their second year of existence to earn the right to play Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC at BMO Field in Toronto at the annual Canadian championship.

This is an opportunity to recognize the contributions made by the team’s management, players, staff and growing fanbase. This also builds on the City of Barrie’s diverse city, with soccer being considered the world’s game and celebrated by people from all countries, races and religions, truly highlighting the growing diversity of our city.
