This new Barrie Fire & Emergency Service Station, Station 6, is an important addition to our community. The new fire station, located at 845 Mapleview Drive East, will enhance the emergency response capabilities and meet the needs of the growing population in Barrie's south-east area.
The new fire station is designed to provide a safe, productive, and effective environment for our firefighting crews. Reflecting our community values, Station 6 includes gender-inclusive living quarters and sustainable design considerations, with all energy provided by electricity and the capability to integrate solar power. The facility supports a crew of five staff per shift and features a garage bay with space for two aerial fire trucks. This station is built to be efficient and resilient, ensuring it can serve our community effectively for many years to come.
The construction project was overseen by the City’s Facility Planning and Development Branch in collaboration with the hired construction and consultant team. A dedicated project manager was on the project to ensure that the development stayed on schedule and within budget.
