The Barrie Public Library Board is governed under the terms of the Public Libraries Act

Objective

The Board is responsible for selecting and appointing a professionally qualified Chief Executive Officer and determining strategic objectives and policies. 

The Board is also responsible for the library’s annual budget based on recommendations of the Chief Executive Officer, producing reports to City of Barrie Council as required, plus maintaining a working relationship with government officials, local agencies, and other institutions.

Composition

The Board shall be composed of:

  • two members of Council
  • seven members representing the citizenship at large. 

Meetings

The Board meets eight times a year (no meetings in March, July, August and December).
