The City is installing a raised median on Mapleview Drive East, from Dean to Goodwin. The work is being completed by the contractor, Guild Electric Limited, and follows the recommendations from the Hewitt’s Secondary Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA).
The raised median was presented to the public during the EA process and is part of the recommended design to improve safety, traffic flow, and access in support of future growth in the Hewitt’s Secondary Plan area.
The timing of the project is connected to the construction of the new public school at Mapleview Drive and Dean Avenue. With the school expected to open in 2027, it’s important to complete nearby traffic improvements in advance.
Project Updates
August 4, 2026
Construction is nearing completion. Upcoming work includes Alectra Utilities completing the final electrical connections for the new traffic signals and pedestrian crossing. Once this work is complete, the contractor will install the final pavement markings to finish the project.
Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and delays while the pavement markings are being completed. We thank residents and motorists for their continued patience as these final improvements are completed.
