Barrie Airshow returns June 13 and 14 with new twilight show and fireworks finale

(Barrie, ON) – The City of Barrie, alongside partners Canadian Forces Base Borden, County of Simcoe, Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, and the Downtown Barrie BIA officially announced the return of the Barrie Airshow, presented by Pratt Homes, at a media event this morning (Wednesday, March 25).

Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall announced the free event will return to the shores of Kempenfelt Bay on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14. Iconic Canadian aircraft and demonstration teams will be taking to the skies including the Canadian Forces Snowbirds (431 Air Demonstration Squadron), CF-18 Tactical Demonstration, Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks Parachute Team, and the Northern Stars Aeroteam. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year’s event will feature Barrie’s first‑ever twilight airshow on Saturday evening which begins in daylight and continues through sunset, with special aerial performances designed to showcase the aircraft against the twilight sky. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show. The fireworks will be presented at no additional cost as it replaces the New Year’s Eve fireworks that were cancelled earlier this year due to severe weather.

“This year marks the 110th anniversary of CFB Borden, and the City is proud to partner with the Base to present a signature event that truly honours this legacy,” said Mayor Nuttall. “In 2025, the Barrie Airshow drew more than 90,000 spectators to our waterfront and downtown, generating more than $5.6 million in economic impact. With the return of fan‑favourite performances and new and enhanced attractions, the 2026 Barrie Airshow promises to deliver an outstanding experience for residents and visitors alike.”

“We are thrilled to be returning to Barrie in 2026 and to perform over the stunning backdrop of Kempenfelt Bay once again. The setting is truly spectacular, and the energy from the crowds lining the shoreline makes this show especially memorable for our team. We look forward to reconnecting with the Barrie community and sharing our exciting performance with everyone on 13 and 14 June!” Major Maciej Hatta, Snowbird 1, Team Lead

The weekend will also include the Downtown Barrie BIA’s first Open Air Dunlop of the season, CFB Borden’s ground displays, family programming, vendors and aviation-themed organizations.  A free screening of Top Gun: Maverick at Meridian Place will kick off the weekend on Friday night (June 12).
