The City is experiencing significant population growth, with projections estimating an increase to 298,000 residents by 2051. As identified in the 2019 Wastewater Treatment Master Plan, the City is proposing to expand and upgrade its existing Wastewater Treatment Facility to ensure long-term wastewater treatment capacity, environmental protection and regulatory compliance.
The existing Wastewater Treatment Facility, located at 249 Bradford Street, has been in operation since 1931. Since its construction, the facility has undergone several expansions and upgrades to meet increasing wastewater treatment demands.
The notice of commencement was issued on July 10, 2026.
