(Barrie, ON) – Celebrate 30 years of Communities in Bloom with the City of Barrie’s event on July 25 to recognize the awards and achievements of local green thumb enthusiasts.
Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement and an annual national program that challenges communities to enhance green spaces.
Past Communities in Bloom participants and members of the public are invited to drop in to the Communities in Bloom recognition event, celebrating the City’s achievements and award highlights:

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: City Hall Rotunda, 70 Collier St., Barrie
The event will recognize the City's participation in the Communities in Bloom program and thank residents for participating over the years. Communities in Bloom Committee members and City staff will also be in attendance at the event, highlighting efforts that have put Barrie on the map as an award-winning municipality for its floral and plant displays.
Over the past three decades, the City has won numerous Communities in Bloom awards, including international recognition. Most recently, Barrie received the following awards:
- 2025: Healthier, Livable Cities - 5 Blooms Gold award; special recognition for City’s ice storm tree recovery efforts
- 2024: International challenge large category – 5 Blooms Gold award; special mention for the Waterfront Strategic Plan; Outstanding Achievement Award for the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association’s Green Cities program
- 2023: Circle of Excellence – 5 Blooms Gold award; special recognition for plants and floral displays
