To complete bridge maintenance work, the MTO requires two 15-minute full road closures of the Anne Street bridge on February 14. The closures will be between Donald Street & Edgehill Drive. Each closure will be approximately 15 minutes and will take place between 10am and 4pm.
The contractor will implement all necessary temporary traffic control measures, including paid duty police officers positioned at Edgehill Drive & Anne Street and Donald Street & Anne Street.
During the closures, traffic can use Edgehill Drive and Donald/Wellington Street as a detour. Drivers can expect delays.

The Anne Street bridge has reopened to traffic. Barrie Transit routes 5 and 8 will return to their regular routing on Monday, June 5. Please note that Sunnidale Road, between Letitia and Wellington, will close on Monday, June 5, for the Sunnidale Road New Transmission Watermain project.

The MTO expects the bridge will be opened to traffic in early June. Some work remains on the abutments, but all the major operations have been completed.

The MTO has extended the duration of the existing Full Road Closure on Anne Street North between Edgehill Drive and Donald Street. The closure will be tentatively extended until the end of July 2023. A new bridge will be constructed at the crossing of Anne Street over Highway 400. No Thru Traffic.

The completion of the new Anne Street bridge has been delayed until 2023 due to challenges outside of the Ministry of Transportation's control, including weather. Most of the work still to be completed is weather dependent. Motorists are reminded to follow the signed detour routes and to drive cautiously near the construction zone.

Bridge work is progressing, with installation of the girders happening for mid-fall and bridge deck construction continuing into the winter. The Edgehill Drive and Donald Street intersection improvements are nearing completion.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) requires a full road closure on Anne Street North between Donald Street and Henry Street from 7am–6pm on November 9, 2022. Access for residents and businesses within the closure to be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it.
Until November 9, Anne Street between Donald Street and Henry Street continues to be partially closed. The intersection at Anne Street and Donald Street will remain closed to Westbound/Southbound traffic from Donald Street. One lane will continue to be maintained through the intersection for Northbound/Eastbound traffic from Anne Street to Donald Street/Wellington Street only. Construction work on Hwy 400 has reached a major milestone, with traffic now shifted into the new northbound lanes. The median work and construction of the bridge pier has started. The Edgehill Dr and Donald St intersection improvements has also begun. The project is on track for completion by end of 2022. Motorists are reminded to follow the signed detour routes and to drive cautiously near the construction zone.
February 2022
Construction is progressing well, with both the east and west abutments now constructed. Limited bridge work is occurring during the winter months. Crews are expected to resume construction in Spring 2022. The project is on track to be completed and the bridge is expected to open by late 2022, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Motorists are reminded to follow the signed detour route currently in place and to drive cautiously when approaching the limits of the construction zone on Anne Street and through the construction zone along. Barrie's Transit pedestrian shuttle remains in service to take pedestrians across Highway 400 during the bridge closure.
November 2021
The first major stage of highway 400 construction is complete. The west abutment for the new Anne Street bridge is built, and work has begun on the east abutment. Highway 400 construction will continue through fall until winter shutdown.

The 18-month closure of Anne Street from Edgehill Drive to Donald Street will begin the night of Saturday May 29, 2021. The bridge will be demolished the following weekend, overnight on Saturday June 5, 2021.
