Anne Street Bridge Replacement (MTO Project)

A new bridge was constructed at the crossing of Anne Street over highway 400. The crossing from Edgehill Drive to Donald Street was closed for the full duration of construction. Transit and pedestrian detours were in place for the duration of the project.

This construction project was led led by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) as part of the replacement of three bridges on Highway 400 at Dunlop Street, Anne Street and Sunnidale Road.

Project Updates

February 20, 2024

The bridge maintenance work that was scheduled for February 14, 2024 was successfully completed by the MTO. The project is complete.

Project Features

This MTO project included the following:

  • Demolition of the existing Anne Street bridge
  • Replacement of  Anne Street bridge with a larger structure that includes wide sidewalks and a wider bridge deck to improve traffic operations and active transportation.
  • Improvements at the Anne/Edgehill and Anne/Donald intersections.
  • Major work on highway 400 to make way for the new bridge, which will be large enough to accommodate a wider highway 400 in the future.
