The City is undertaking improvements to the Bunkers Creek watercourse to address erosion, capacity and infrastructure concerns, constructed in three phases:
- Phase One: Includes the structural lining of two existing culverts under Innisfil Street.
- Phase Two: Includes realigning and restoring the creek from Bradford Street for 160 meters east toward Lakeshore Drive (construction anticipated in Winter 2023/2024)
- Phase Three: Includes replacement of the twin culverts and watermain at Bradford Street and realigning and restoring the creek from the limits of phase two through 100 100 metres west of Bradford Street (construction anticipated in 2024/2025)
Project Updates
August 22, 2023
The contractor has completed the demolition of the building at 93 Bradford Street. A soil investigation is ongoing at 93 Bradford Street.
Bell utility relocation along Bradford Street will start this month and is estimated to be completed in September 2023.

Project Features
The objective of this project is to:
- Repair the existing culvert at Innisfil Street with a structural liner. This option will extend the life of the existing infrastructure.
- Replace the existing culverts at Bradford Street that are in poor condition with larger culverts that can manage more water. This will help reduce flood waters over topping at Bradford Street and reduce flood impacts in that area.
- Restore a portion of Bunkers Creek from Bradford Street to Lakeshore Drive. This will provide better opportunities for habitat in Bunkers Creek, provide an engineered floodplain and a natural channel design.

Traffic Impacts
The project will be staged to minimize the disruption to residents however, a road closure that prohibits through traffic (vehicle and pedestrian) will be required during construction. Construction will be completed based on the in water works timing windows for any fish species that may be located within the Creek. Design considerations have been made to attempt to minimize the length of construction duration.
