The City is installing a raised median on Mapleview Drive East, from Dean to Goodwin. The work is being completed by the contractor, Guild Electric Limited, and follows the recommendations from the Hewitt’s Secondary Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA).
The raised median was presented to the public during the EA process and is part of the recommended design to improve safety, traffic flow, and access in support of future growth in the Hewitt’s Secondary Plan area.
The timing of the project is connected to the construction of the new public school at Mapleview Drive and Dean Avenue. With the school expected to open in 2027, it’s important to complete nearby traffic improvements in advance.
Project Update

The contractor will mobilize to site in late April to complete the remaining concrete raised median work and traffic signal installation along Mapleview Drive East (Dean to Goodwin). The contractor demobilized in December 2025 for the winter after completing the majority of the concrete raised median installation, and work is now resuming for the spring construction season.
You can expect to see increased construction activity in the area, including equipment and truck traffic. Temporary lane closures and minor delays may occur periodically; however, every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain traffic flow.
