The City offers a $50 rebate to residents who replace high-flow fixtures (greater than 6 litres per flush) with low flow fixtures (6 litres or less). The rebate program, aimed at reducing water consumption within city residences, began October 17, 2005, and is available to Barrie residents who own homes built before 1996. 

Guidelines

  • This program is only open to owners of residences located within the City of Barrie limits. 
  • This program is eligible only for homes built before 1996.
  • The City of Barrie will provide a maximum of one credit per dwelling.
  • The toilet rebate water bill credit is established at a level of $50.00.
  • The water bill credit is only available to residents who replace high flow fixtures (greater than 6 litres per flush) with low flow fixtures (6 litres or less). Please note that this rebate does not apply to toilets installed as a result of new construction or additions.
  • The applicant will be required to sign a form indicating that he/she has replaced a high flow fixture with a low flow fixture and has disposed of the old toilet at the City of Barrie’s landfill (all fees are to be paid by the applicant at the time of disposal).

How to Apply

  1. In order to receive a rebate, you will be required to provide:
     
  2. Once all documentation is received and verified, a copy of the Toilet Rebate Application will be processed for a credit on your water bill and a copy will be provided for your records.
  3. A credit of $50.00 will be applied to the water bill of the municipal address indicated on the toilet rebate application form.
