The City of Barrie remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible and age‑friendly community by proactively identifying, preventing and removing barriers to
accessibility. Drawing on extensive past work that has laid a strong foundation, the plan positions us to advance new and innovative ideas, projects and initiatives through 2030. As our city grows and evolves, this plan is designed to respond to that growth by supporting community development and intensification.

Recognizing that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, the plan is intended to help break down barriers and ensure full participation for all community members. In doing so, we will remain aligned with the requirements set by the AODA in Ontario including the need for municipalities to maintain a multi‑year accessibility plan, conduct regular reviews and report publicly on progress.

The 2025–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan provides an update on activities that were undertaken between 2019–2024, in addition to planning for Barrie’s accessible future.
